How to eat Like a Body Builder

If you are working on building more muscle mass, you probably already know that working out is only 50% of the process. For you to have the toned, strong muscles that you crave, you have to eat the right food as well. Therefore, in case you want to learn how to eat like a body builder in order to have your dream body, read the following lines.

Make sure that you eat the right amount of protein

The most important part of a body builder’s diet is the amount of proteins that he consumes. To grow muscles you actually need to consume a large amount of proteins. But make sure that you don’t overdo it, or else the extra proteins become calories, and you don’t achieve the results that you are looking for. A rule of thumb that you can use to figure out how much daily protein intake you need is to consume 0.8 grams of protein per pound of body weight. Some great options that you can go with to provide the daily protein intake are salmon, pork tenderloin, London broil round steak, and chicken breast. In case you’re vegetarian or vegan, you can consume soy, quinoa, mycoprotein, and seitan. When it comes to the most important meal of the day, breakfast, you should consume high-protein cereal and a protein shake, or egg yolks and oatmeal.

Avoid processed foods and sweets

What you must always avoid in order to have the body of your dreams are processed foods and sweets. Processed foods and fast foods are unhealthy choices to go with. Instead of turning into muscle, these foods turn into fat. Therefore, you won’t have the lean muscles that you dream of if you consume them. Also, sweets should be avoided at all costs. Refined sugars and simple carbohydrates are empty calories that replace healthy options in building muscle mass. There is no exception from this rule. Therefore, make sure that you never consume these empty carbohydrates if you want to look good.

Use liquids for nutrition between meals

We all get hungry between the main meals of the day. If you’re working on building your muscles, you can’t eat anything that you find tempting. Instead of ruining your muscle growing diet with junk foods, drink protein shakes between meals. They are a great source of energy and they will keep you feeling full until your next meal. Also, they are easy to absorb and digest.

Stay hydrated

Something that you must never forget to do is to stay properly hydrated. The human body is mostly made up of water, and for it to continue to function smoothly, you have to drink enough water. Due to the fact that you are training intensely, you have to step up your game when it comes to drinking water. Make sure that you drink enough before, during, and after you workout. Otherwise, you will feel the negative effects of dehydration.
